ZAMBOANGA CITY, Nov. 6 (PNA) -– The city government is purchasing two mobile drilling rigs worth PhP4 million to help the farmers by ensuring water supply in case the El Niño phenomenon occurs as forecast by the state weather bureau.
City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat said Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, upon recommendation from his office, has approved the purchase of the drilling rigs that would cost PhP1.2 million each.
Palacat said a mobile drilling rig is an equipment that is used to drill water wells to help mitigate the adverse effect of possible severe drought.
He said the drilling rig can be transferred from one barangay to the other.
He said the papers for the purchase of the equipment are being prepared for bidding purposes.
Meanwhile, Palacat disclosed that not much damage has been reported in agricultural and fishery crops as a result of the recent inclement weather condition experienced in the city. PNA
