TUGUEGARAO CITY — The City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) advised women to be always responsible mothers, fight for their rights and not be victims of exploitation.
CSWD officer Myrna Te made the call in celebration of International Women’s Month this March. The celebration has for its theme “Kapakanan ni Juan Isama sa Agenda.”
She said that her office has received several complaints from women who are victims of domestic violence.
Te urged other battered women to come out and bring their concern before the Social Welfare and Development Office and they will be assisted in the filing of complaints against their arrogant husbands.
She admitted that most women-victims are afraid to report the abuse for fear that their marriage will be destroyed.
Battered women should not remain silent and martyrs to the wrongdoing of their husbands but they should report the abusive acts to put an end to their malady, she said.
She also advised women to be responsible mothers to their children and as wives to their husband as Filipinos value the tradition of close family ties. PNA/northboundasia.com
