LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — An incumbent village kagawad (councilman) said to be a relative of the town mayor of Urbiztondo was arrested Monday by a joint police team manning a checkpoint in Urbiztondo town in possession of one Caliber 45 pistol with two magazines containing 21 live ammunition.
Bimbo Velasco Palisoc, 42, councilman of Barangay Dalaguiring, was arrested at around 10:30 p.m. Monday by joint elements of the Urbiztondo police, Provincial Public Safety Company and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) while they were conducting a checkpoint at Rizal Street in Urbiztondo.
Palisoc was identified as a nephew of Pangasinan Second District Board Member Raul Sison whose son Raul Martin is the municipal mayor of Urbiztondo.
A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 in relation to Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban was filed against the suspect.
Palisoc was among the three persons arrested so far this week in Pangasinan for violation of the election gun ban.
Meanwhile, at 7 p.m. of January 18, elements of Dagupan City Police arrested one Reynold Villanueva, 30, of Barangay Bolosan in a buy-bust operation at Gonzales Street, Bonuan Boquig and when he was bodily-searched, a Cal.38 home-made revolver with five live ammunition was found tucked in his waist.
Villanueva sold one small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth Php300 to police officer who acted as poseur buyer.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the arrest of suspect, a report on the alleged illegal activities of the suspect was received by the police from an informant on Jan. 13 and was forwarded to the Dagupan City Intelligence Section and the PNP Provincial Intelligence Branch in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
With the help of a confidential agent, a meeting between the suspect and a poseur buyer was arranged at Gonzales Street in Bonuan Boquig wherein the latter would be buying Php300 worth of shabu.
When the transaction was consummated,the suspect was immediately arrested.
After his arrest, another heat-sealed sachet of shabu was seized from him, including Php600 cash.
A case for violation of Article II Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 as well as gun ban violation are now being readied against the suspect.
The case is still under investigation.
In San Fabian, one Danmar Jovallanos, 26, a dance instructor and a resident of Baranga Nibaliw West, San Fabian, Pangasinan was arrested Monday during the conduct of checkpoint along the national highway and was found to be carrying a bolo (samurai), measuring 27 inches long from tip to handle,
He was also found carrying one piece of marijuana leaf, one tooter and one disposable lighter.
The confiscated marijuana leaf weighing 0.253 gram and the improvised tooter were submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory Office, Urdaneta City for qualitative examination.
A case for violation of Article II, Sections 11 and 12 of R.A. 9165 and violation of Rule II, Sec. 1 of Comelec Resolution No. 10015 (Omnibus Election Code) were already filed against the suspect before the Office of Provincial Prosecutor, Dagupan City. PNA / northboundasia.com
