Victim’s hubby tagged as “mastermind” in Sta. Rosa killings

SANTA ROSA CITY — This city’s police filed on Monday two counts of parricide charges against Richard Sta. Ana, the husband of the slain Pearl Helene Sta. Ana and her one-year old son Denzel, following confession of one of the suspects the Sta Ana patriarch masterminded the crime.

Sta. Rosa City police also filed two counts of murder and theft charges against Ramoncito Bituin Galo, 25, of Cupang, Muntinlupa City, who voluntarily surrendered to police last Friday.

Laguna Police Director Sr. Supt. Ronnie Montejo, in a press conference Monday morning held at the Santa Rosa City Hall, said that Galo was stricken by his conscience after repeatedly seeing his picture on television and newspapers as one of the two men seen on a CCTV recording walking toward the house of the victims.

Galo admitted he tied the victims and watched his accomplice, alias “Bryan, ” hammered Pearl and her son to death.

He also claimed that his accomplice undressed and raped the woman while he was ransacking the room at the 2nd floor of the house.

Galo told police that the victims’ husband, who identified himself as “Sir Jeff,” ordered the killing of the mother and son for a sum of Php 60,000, with an initial payment of Php 10,000 while the Php 50,000 will be given after the consummation of the crime.

Moreover, Galo said that it was alias “Sir Jeff” that provided the identification card (ID) as repairman and the copy of the Job Order. It was also alias “Sir Jeff” who provided the cell phone used to record the crime and present to him as proof.

Meanwhile, Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez offered a Php 100,000 reward money in addition to the Php 200,000 earlier declared by Sta. Rosa MCity Mayor Arlene Arcillas. Robert Maico / PNA /
