CITY OF CAUAYAN, Isabela — Four provinces in Cagayan Valley region have no classes in all levels at public and private schools as post-typhoon floods have caused rivers to rise and overflow bridges to submerge in waters.
Classes were suspended Monday in Isabela, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino as floodwaters continue to rise at the rivers of Magat, Cagayan and Pinacanauan while Typhoon Karen-wrought areas have been repairing and cleaning damaged properties, according to civil defense office in Cagayan Valley.
At least 499 families with 141 people were listed evacuated on Monday morning regionwide, according to Francis Joseph Reyes, civil defense office spokesperson.
The Magat Dam reservoir’s elevation has been pegged at 190.10-meter-high on October 17. The inflow was pegged at 2,838 cubic meters per second while the outflow was at 2,669 cubic meters per second.
Six spillway gates at six-meter-high were opened with 2,680 releases.
The floodwater at Buntun bridge in Cagayan was pegged at 5.82-meter-high alarm level.
