Two gold diggers’ bodies retrieved after they were buried alive in Isabela

DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela — Rescuers retrieved the bodies of two illegal gold miners who were buried alive while digging in San Antonio village here, police said on Tuesday.

Police Senior Inspector Andy Orilla, Delfin Albano police chief, identified the buried diggers as Dominador Reyno Sr., a carpenter, and Jay Manalo, a farmer, both of Villa Pereda village here.

Police had responded to the site after receiving reports from villagers about the buried men at the illegal gold mining pit, which had collapsed due to its watery soil and soft, unstable ground.

Volunteers have to use a backhoe to recover the bodies.

Police found a water pump and shovels at the site. Villamor Visaya Jr/PNA-northboundasia.com
