Trump meets Obama at White House as power transition begins

WASHINGTON — U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday he looks forward to seeking counsel from President Barack Obama as the Republican businessman prepares to enter the White House in January.

Marking the start of the power transition following Tuesday’s presidential election that saw Trump beat Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, Obama and his successor-in-waiting talked for about 90 minutes in what Trump said was their first-ever meeting.

“We discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficulties,” Trump said at the close of the Oval Office sit-down. “I very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future, including counsel.” PNA/Kyodo-northboundasia.com
