Truck falls into 200-foot Benguet ravine; 1 dead

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A passenger of an Elf truck was killed while several others were injured when the vehicle fell into a 200-meter ravine the other day at sitio Induyan, barangay Alno here.

Pedro Gumisa, 47 from Pinget, Baguio City died while being transported to the Benguet General Hospital and Medical Center, along with with Roger Widwidan Aspilan, 15, from Pinget, Baguio City, Milanio Widwidan Aspilan, 34, also from Pinget, Tony Tawin Pinmangin, 35, from Navy Base, Baguio, and three others not identified by the police.

Benguet police said, all the passengers including Kimberly Dingen Tunget who drove the ill-fated truck, jumped out from the vehicle before it fell.

Gumisa’s group reportedly came from Asin Tuel, in Tublay town when their vehicle fell into the ravine for still unknown reasons. Thom Picana/northboundasia.com
