TOWN COUNCILOR NABBED FOR GUNS, AMMOS

CABA, La Union – A municipal councilor of this town was arrested yesterday by joint police operatives after they found a gun in his possession and assorted rounds of ammunition during the implementation of search warrant at his house in Barangay Juan Cartas here.

Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director, said the raiding team from La Union police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 1 arrested Joseph Maglaya, 49, an incumbent Sangguniang Bayan Member.

Found in Maglaya’s possession were one cal.9mm pistol, three empty shells for caliber 22, a barrel for cal. 45, one magazine for cal. 45, 15 bullets for cal. 380, 26 bullets for cal. 45, two magazines for cal. 380, and 27 bullets for cal. 380.

Dumangeng said the suspect and confiscated items were turned over to the Caba police station. Maglaya will be criminally charged for violation of R.A.10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms Law. JUN ELIAS / northboundasia.com
