SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union– The Provincial Government in partnership with the regional office of the Department of Tourism will conduct on June 23-24 a Tourist Seminar for tricycle drivers, tourist transport van drivers and multi-cab drivers at the La Union Technology and Livelihood Development Center, City here.
The training for the drivers as tourist front-liners in the province is designed to create a pool of DOT-accredited local tour guides..
The course consists of combination of lectures and practical activities in self-concept and mind binders, developing self-esteem, the art of driving, effective customer service, road safety and knowing tourist destinations and spots in the province.
It aims to equip participants with the theories, knowledge and practical skills to work as local tour guides and instills passion for tourism destination marketing.
Organizers said the seminar will give participants a great opportunity to promote the tourism industry of La Union and to realize the importance of proper handling of passengers. Meals and training kits will also be provided by the organizers.
The two-day affair is the first ever tourist drivers seminar conducted in La Union organized by the Provincial Information and Tourism Office in cooperation with the DOT. Dunkin Lee Gaerlan/PITO-La Union
