STO. TOMAS, La Union – The number two drug personality in the region’s drug watch list including five drug pushers were apprehended yesterday by police operatives and anti-drugs personnel of the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency in Barangay Namboongan here.
Senior Inspector Garry Anthony Casem, Sto. Tomas police chief, identified the top drug suspect as Alexander E. Padilla, 42, a resident of said village, who is in the list of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council. Others arrested were Reynaldo Del Rosario, Pedro Carpio, Jayson Japson, Reynante Eisma and Jericho Gayo.
Padilla was arrested by virtue of search warrant for violation of RA 9165 or Dangerous Drug Act and RA 10591 Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act issued by Executive Judge Romeo Atillo, Jr. of RTC Branch 31, in Agoo town.
Casem told reporters the arrests were made on a raid of Padilla’s computer shop, where the five other suspects were caught in a pot session and repacking the banned drugs
Seized from the suspects were 17 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets that contained the banned drug called shabu; 1 caliber .38 revolver with 5 pieces live ammunition; 3 live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol; 25 aluminum foils strip, a lighter; 15 repacking plastic sachets and one rolled aluminum foil.
The inventory was made in the presence of incumbent barangay council chief Benvienido P Carbonell and Department of Justice Representative Leticia Fernandez.
Padilla and the other suspects are now under the custody of the Sto. Tomas Police Station for further investigation and proper disposition of their various offenses. Erwin Beleo / northboundasia.com
