CHICAGO — Three police officers were wounded in a shootout in Chicago on Monday night, authorities said.
The officers were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Chicago police said on its official Twitter account, without providing any further details.
The office of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also released a statement late Monday, commending the bravery of the officers.
The officers were responding to drug-related complaints in the western part of the city and saw two suspicious people, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The suspects opened fire when the officers confronted them. Three officers were wounded and taken to hospital, according to the police.
