Thousands of passengers stranded due to TS ‘Marce’

MANILA — At least 10,000 passengers were stranded in various ports nationwide as tropical storm “Marce” intensified as it crossed Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

In an advisory posted on its Twitter account, the PCG said travel for 1,401 rolling cargoes, 161 vessels and 58 motor bancas were suspended in Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Southern Luzon and Bicol.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, said “Marce” was estimated at 90 kilometers west southwest of Roxas City, Capiz. It has maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 110 kph and expected to move west northwest at 22 kph.
