BAUANG, La Union – The 54-year-old incumbent administrative officer of the the Ilocos office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) based in San Fernando City, was shot dead by two riding-in-tandem assailants at around 6:40 p.m. in Barangay Paringao here last Friday, October 13.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado, Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the victim as Mila R. San Juan, 54, a resident of the village.
San Juan was brought to the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City but was pronounced dead-on-arrival due to gunshot wounds on her body.
Village residents who refused to be identified by name said the victim was standing along the national highway when the suspects wearing helmets arrived on board on a motorcycle and opened fired at her then sped away.
In an interview, Chief Inspector Joel Lagto, Bauang police station chief, disclosed they had a possible lead in finding and arresting the suspects, but he said it was premature to publicly announce it as they are still conducting further investigation of the shooting incident.
Lagto said they are still searching for motivation of the suspects and have coordinated with officials of the regional office of Tesda. There is an on-going manhunt operation against the killers of San Juan, he said. Northbound Philippines News
