TESDA completes BuB toolkits distribution in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Ilocos Norte Provincial Office have completed the distribution of Bottoms-up Budgeting (BuB) 2015 tool kits to its beneficiaries.

According to TESDA, there are a total of 500 recipients benefited in the BuB scholarship program in Ilocos Norte.

In Piddig town alone, there are a total of 110 beneficiaries, the biggest among all the towns in Ilocos Norte. The scholarship includes manicure and pedicure, hair cutting services, bread making, dressmaking, and shielded metal arc welding.

To achieve the Philippine Development Plan’s goal of inclusive growth and poverty reduction, and to promote good governance at the local level, the Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cluster (HDPRC), through the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) Oversight Agencies have implemented the BuB.

The program seeks to increase citizen’s access to local service delivery through a demand-driven budget planning process and to strengthen government accountability in local public service provision.

In the TESDA’s official website, the BuB oversight and participating agencies are tasked to ensure the implementation of priority poverty reduction projects as identified at the city or municipal level.

It is an approach to the preparation of agency budget proposals, taking into consideration the development needs of cities or municipalities as identified in their respective local poverty action plans.

Other towns in Ilocos Norte who are recipients to the program are Carasi with 52 beneficiaries; Marcos with 50; Vintar with 49; Bacarra with 52 recipients; Burgos with 84 beneficiaries; Adams with 44 graduates and recipients of the kits; and the municipality of San Nicolas with 39 beneficiaries.

The distribution were coordinated to the local government units under the direction of Provincial Director Socorro F. Galanto and assisted by the staff of TESDA Ilocos Norte Provincial Office.

The Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) and focal persons of the LGUs provided the necessary assistance for the smooth distribution of the tool kits. PNA/northboundasia.com
