Technology at one’s fingertips: PLDT unveils ‘Smart Home’

MANILA — PLDT Group has just taken technology to the next level as it recently unveiled the “Smart Home”.

Basically, “Smart Home” enables users to control almost everything in their home through a smartphone or tablet.

Security, safety and convenience are what the “Smart Home” offers.

Even when the client is outside, he/she can monitor what’s happening inside the home. The CCTV camera, for instance, was equipped with sensors that can detect unusual movements/perpetrators.

Through a voice command, the client can also turn on/off the appliances upon leaving and arriving the house. This is a perfect way of making sure you didn’t left any appliance in use.

These are just among the things that clients can get through “Smart Home”.

To achieve these technologies and services, the PLDT Group has partnered with different local and global brands.

These brands include Amazon, iflix, iWantTV, NETFLIX, Roku, Alcatel, D-Link, Fox, Family Zone, Huawei, Intel, Microsoft and Sony.

Entertainment at its finest

PLDT acknowledges that Filipinos love watching TV series and movies. It is also aware that some Filipinos miss their favorite shows as they get home late from work.

This is why, the company has partnered with video streaming platform from Roku Inc. for internet TV; global internet television network Netflix for an extensive library of award-winning TV and movie titles; e-commerce giant Amazon for online shopping; and iWantTV, for local TV content.

The company has signed partnership with ABS-CN to bring the iWantTV to more families. This means clients can now watch both past and presently airing ABS-CBN teleseryes as well as the station’s news and current affairs shows.

So if PLDT/Smart subscribers miss an episode of their favorite teleserye, they can view the episode a few moments after it was aired.

Peace of mind

PLDT also values peace of mind of its clients, especially the moms.

For Netflix users, there is a parental control settings to ensure a safe-viewing experience for kids.

Through PLDT’s partnership with Alcatel, on the other hand, smartwatch will be available soon. This smartwatch will enable moms to locate where their kids are. Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA-northboundasia.com
