ANGELES CITY — Anti-drug authorities on Wednesday dismantled a shabu laboratory in the city.
Gladys Rosales, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Region- 3 (PDEA 3) said the laboratory was located at 75-09 Clover Street, Timog Park Subdivision, Barangay Pampang, Angeles City.
Rosales said joint forces of PDEA agents and the Police Anti- Illegal Drug Group (AIDG), armed with a search warrant issued against its listed occupant Rosemarie Xiao and a John Doe, swooped down the area at around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
”No other data available on the suspects as of yet,” Rosales said.
She said the suspects were not around when agents raided the place, noting that their whereabouts are still unknown.
She said the shabu laboratory can be considered a medium-scale clandestine laboratory because it can produce a daily volume of 15-19 kilos of shabu.
Operatives of the AIDG have been monitoring the place since January after an informant gave a tip on the matter, a PDEA agent said.
Rosales said the high-impact operation yielded 99 sacks of sodium hydroxide, 19 sacks of unknown substance, 15 pails of suspected ammonia, red phosphorus, ethanol, cupric sulphate, iodine and ethanol, all elements being used in producing shabu and assorted laboratory equipment.
The confiscated items, including the equipment were estimated to reach PHP50 million.
The authorities are still looking into possibility that the suspects might have local contacts or protectors. PNA/northboundasia.com
