Senator Villanueva vows to set up dialysis centers in Cordillera

BAGUIO CITY — Senator Joel Villanueva on Friday said he was committed to establish a dialysis center in the Cordillera region to help the thousands of residents undergoing the expensive treatment.

Following Thursday’s meeting with Mayor Mauricio Domogan discussing the idea of establishing a dialysis center which he said woul ease the financial burden of a lot of Filipinos experiencing and undergoing dialysis treatment, Villanueva also met with leaders of different Christian churches here to present his first year accomplishments as senator.

Villanueva noted the health concerns these days, especially the number of Filipinos undergoing dialysis and their medical bills.

”The figures are alarming. We want to make sure that we are taking care of our people. Dialysis is very costly,” Villanueva said.

He said he made a commitment that he would work on establishing dialysis centers here, whether in city-run hospitals or in the Cordillera region.

“As vice chairman of the Committee on Health, I see this as an utmost priority for our ‘kababayans’ in Baguio. If funding will be a problem, we will look for funding,” Villanueva said. Merriam del Rosario/PNA
