Scalawag cops deployed to Basilan won’t be there forever — PNP

MANILA — The scalawag policemen who were deployed to Basilan will not be there forever.

This was disclosed by PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief and spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Wednesday.

Carlos said those policemen are free to go back to Manila whenever they want.

He added these policemen won’t be stopped from filing a vacation leave if they want to spend time with their families in Manila.

Carlos said the PNP will also permit these policemen to return to Manila to attend their scheduled court hearings as their attendance is considered a priority.

He pointed out the PNP has no problem with the policemen who did not show up for their deployment to Basilan, saying it’s just as well they leave from the service.

Only 53 out of the supposed 200 police scalawags reported on Tuesday for their flight to Basilan.

Carlos said those who did not report, except for the 40 who were excused because of their scheduled court hearings, are considered AWOL (absent without official leave) and will be automatically be dropped from the rolls after 15 days.
