MANILA — Government authorities on Tuesday placed in isolation a Saudia Airlines plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Runway 06 in Pasay City after receiving a “security threat” of an alleged “hijacking”.
Twenty miles before landing, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) received an advice from the Manila Control Tower that Saudia Airlines flight SVA872 is under threat.
The MIAA, together with the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) are now on site with the aircraft on standby at the designated isolation area.
The executives of the Saudia Airlines are now also on site.
Pending confirmation of advice received, the PNP-Avsegroup and MIAA authorities are now implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with the airport emergency plan. Perfecto Raymundo and Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA/northboundasia.com
