SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union –- Mayor Pablo C. Ortega led city officials in the blessing and inauguration of the City Health and Wellness Center here on Monday.

The City Health and Wellness Center costs P15-million which was allocated by the local government unit. As a health provider especially for residents, its services include free cervical cancer screening, electrocardiogram, normal spontaneous delivery, prenatal, pap smear, immunization and medico- legal consultation.
Mayor Ortega said that the Center will help build trusting
relationships within communities in order to effectively engage women in prenatal care and partner with new mothers to ensure that their infants grow and develop well.
“The Center can handle normal spontaneous delivery for it has five bariatric beds (larger than the conventional beds with adjustable ends to ensure patient safety) for recovering mothers”, Ortega added.
The Center also aims to encourage more women to undergo cervical screening tests such as pap smear to prevent cervical cancer and to support the city’s vision of becoming “Northern Luzon’s Center for Health and Wellness by 2020.”
