Roxas-Robredo tandem to barnstorm Cotabato City, Maguindanao, to meet Cardinal Quevedo and MILF leaders

COTABATO CITY, Philippines –- Administration presidential candidate Mar Roxas and vice presidential aspirant Leni Robredo will meet Thursday leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to assure them that “Team Daang Matuwid” will sustain the government Mindanao peace process.

Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, MILF chieftain and head of the group’s central committee, will welcome Roxas-Robredo tandem inside Camp Darapanan, the MILF’s main office in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

The attainment of peace in Mindanao is among the top priorities of Daang Matuwid which will be presented to the MILF leaders today.

Earlier in the day, Roxas and Robredo will join women’s groups in Cotabato City celebrating the culmination program of Women’s Month celebration.

Grassroots women leaders numbering about 10,000 in yellow t-shirts are now ready to welcome “Team Daang Matuwid” in Barangay Balabaran and Poblacion 8, Cotabato City.

Roxas and Robredo are expected to push for empowerment of Mindanao women, the Mindanao peace process and to sustain the govenrment’s anti-poverty program called Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

This early, traffic along major city streets have been heavy as Liberal Party local, regional and national supporters prepared to welcome the administration aspirants.

Included in Daang Matuwid’s itinerary is a courtesy call to Mindanao’s first cardinal, His Eminence Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, DD at the archbishop’s palace along Sinsuat Avenue, Cotabato City.

Both Roxas and Robredo and the party’s senatorial candidates will attend a brief peace consultation with Friends of Peace, an alliance of peace advocates in Mindanao headed by Quevedo.

Welcoming “Team Daang Matuwid” are LP leaders that include Regional Gov. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu, Maguindanao 1st district Rep. Bai Sandra Sema, Maguindanao 2nd district Rep.
