“Riding-in-Tandem” kill La Union Businessman

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A 61-year-old businessman was gunned down Monday morning by Unidentified assailants in a variety store, Barangay Tayac, Rosario town.

Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado, Jr, provincial police information officer, identified the victim as Romeo U. Oribello, 61, resident of the said barangay.

Ordinado said Oribello was about to buy cellphone prepaid load in the store when the gunmen arrived on board a motorcycle and shot him several times on the different parts of his head and body, then fled.
Victim was rushed to the Rosario District Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival by attending physician.

Police recovered several empty shells of calibre 45 at the crime scene.
Chief Inspector Roy Villanueva, Rosario’s police chief, said that the Oribello was a real estate agent and cockfighting seller.

Joint police operatives are investigating whether the murder was related to his job or if the victim was engaged in the illegal drugs trade in which those involved in the activity are usually killed by motorcycling gunmen. Erwin Beleo/Northboundasia.com
