REMAINS OF KABALEN OFW IN MACAU ARRIVE HOME

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The remains of the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Macau who committed suicide in October this year finally arrived home.

The Pampanga Action Center for OFW Concerns (PACOC) facilitated the repatriation of the body of Marvin Bautista, 30, a native of Barangay Sta. Monica, San Simon town.

Reports have it that Bautista committed suicide by jumping at the bridge connecting Macau Center and Taipa sometime in October this year.

Bautista’s body was found after 1 1/2 days near his work place at Oceanus Casino.

Maria Eliza Rey Yap-Muñoz, PACOC head, said the victim’s common law wife, Karren Banaag; legal wife, Rona Vargas; and mother, Carmelita Bautista, sought the intervention of Governor Lilia Pineda for the repatriation of the body.

Upon instruction of Governor Pineda and provincial administrator Andres S. Pangilinan Jr., Muñoz said the PACOC has coordinated with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for the return of the Bautista’s remains.

She said PACOC has also assisted Bautista’s kin in coordinating with the Philippine Consular Office, Philippine Overseas Laborers Office (POLO) and to the Overseas Welfare Workers’ Association (OWWA).

“We all went to Macau to facilitate the repatriation of his remains with the help of the concerned national government agencies,” she said.

“As pledged by Governor Pineda, the provincial government is ready to assist Bautista family as they face these trying times. What we did is to help the family in bringing home the body of our Kabalen in San Simon. At 11 p.m. Monday, his remains already arrived,” she added. PNA
