BAGUIO CITY — As the country’s Summer Capital prepares for Panagbenga 2016, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Baguio City Chapter is also gearing up its plans for this year’s annual flower festival.
With Panagbenga drawing a crowd of thousands, PRC Baguio will be putting up first aid stations in locations specified by the local government unit, in support of the efforts to keep the festivities in check and to ensure the safety and well-being of those who will watch and participate in the activities.
“The Panagbenga festival is one of the most beautiful festivals that we have in the country and the Red Cross will be there to ensure that everyone will be safe while enjoying and having a good time,” said PRC chairman Richard Gordon.
PRC Baguio will put up three first aid stations during the culminating activities—the Street Dancing Competition and Grand Float parade on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The Red Cross first aid stations will be located in the following areas: across Tiongsan Harrison Department Store, at the Red Cross building, and beside Manang Pulis station near Baguio Patriotic High School, where the ambulance will be stationed.
The first aid stations will be manned by 35 volunteers of the Philippine Red Cross.
During the formal opening of the Panagbenga Festival on Feb. 1, which was marked with an opening parade, PRC Baguio provided ambulance service. Similarly, the chapter also provided first aid stations and ambulance service for the other activities that were held in relation to the Panagbenga Festival.
For the Session Road in Bloom event which will run from February 29-March 6, PRC-Baguio will have ambulance service and a first aid station which will be located along Session Road corner Mabini Street. PNA/northboundasia.com
