MANILA — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Monday afternoon at 38 km north 76° west of Ilocos Norte province’s Laoag City but government isn’t expecting aftershocks and damages from this tremblor.
In its earthquake information 2 released Monday afternoon, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the 5:20 p.m. tremblor was of tectonic origin and struck at a depth of 27 kms.
The earthquake was reported at intensity III in Ilocos Sur province’s Vigan City, noted Phivolcs.
