LEGAZPI CITY — A suspected illegal drug pusher from Metro Manila was killed Sunday night in a police drug operation at the boulevard in Barangay Puro here, according to Senior Superintendent Nilo Berdin, city police chief.

Eduardo Garcia of Las Piñas City was killed when he apparently resisted arrest in a drug buy-bust operation by narcotics operatives around 9:45 p.m. along the city boulevard, a famous tourist destination here in Legazpi.

Berdin, in his report, said that during the drug operation, the victim pulled a caliber .45 handgun after sensing that he was transacting with a police operative posing as a buyer. This prompted the police crack team to fire back.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in his body, the report said.

Recovered from the victim were two sealed plastic sachets, each containing five grams of suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth PHP68,000 and a caliber .45 pistol.
