SAN FERNANDO, La Union– Provincial Agriculturist, Ms. Imelda J. Sannadan, was named as the Ilocos Region’s Outstanding Provincial Agriculturist by the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office.

Ms. Sannadan, now on her fifth year as provincial agriculture chief, has been cited for her relentless campaign in the successful implementation of programs on rice, corn, high-value crops and fisheries that benefited farming communities in the province.

In 2013, Ms. Sannadan won the most coveted Rice Achievers Award, a national honor for La Union as one of the country’s outstanding rice producers. With the award, the province earned P4-million in agricultural grants and projects.

Ms. Sannadan was conferred the award during the 2015 Regional Gawad Awarding ceremonies held at the Oasis Country Resorts and Restaurant here.

Joining the roll of awardees from La Union were Ms. Susana F. Palabay as Outstanding Corn Farmer, and the City Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council as Outstanding CFARMC of Region 1.

Ms. Sannadan praised Gov. Manuel Ortega for his leadership in steering the province to reach the peak of agricultural development and “we hope to achieve more year by year.”

“Our efforts for sustainable development in the countryside are gaining momentum as we continue to take a closer look at those who deserve more attention from the government,” she said.

Sannadan expressed gratitude to the local government units for their total support to agriculture and the fishery sectors.
