CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City — The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) is mobilizing sufficient number of policemen to ensure public safety in anticipation of the influx of motorists and tourists during Summer Vacation under the “Ligtas Sumvac 2017” program.
PRO2 information officer Chevalier Iringan said Friday police presence will be intensified through increased foot mobile patrols, checkpoints and the establishment of Police Assistance Desks Centers in places of public convergence, assemblies and conferences to stop the criminal elements from taking advantage of the occasion.
He said all Philippine National Police (PNP) units were asked to coordinate with local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other government agencies and volunteer groups in establishing assistance desks and deployment of Road Safety Marshals for a collaborative and unified delivery of public safety services.
“During the significant activities, it is expected that the movement of the people can cause traffic congestions and vehicular accidents along major thoroughfares, business and commercial centers, and recreational areas.
“Criminals, especially burglars, pickpockets, thieves, robbers, criminal groups, and other threat groups usually take advantage of these situations by engaging in criminal and nefarious activities,” Iringan explained.
He added that the force multipliers will beef-up measures to help the police in providing security in public places and in tourist destinations region-wide.
Iringan also warned the public to observe the precautionary measures as criminals may take advantage of the situation. Simeon Dilan/PNA-northboundasia.com
