MANILA – The long list of local and police officials and judges linked to the illegal drugs that was based on the investigation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other government agencies, a Palace official said on Sunday.
”Well, ‘yung basis niyan, as usual ‘yung investigation ng PNP, PDEA, at ng iba’t ibang ahensiya pa na nasa ibabaw nitong imbestigasyon kung sino ‘yung mga sangkot sa pagbebenta ng droga,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Martin Andanar said in Radyo ng Bayan interview.
President Rodrigo Duterte announced early Sunday morning the 158 incumbent and former local officials, judges and active and retired law enforcers in his speech at Camp Panacan in Davao City.
Andanar said the charges will be automatically filed after the further investigation against the alleged drug protectors and individuals linked to the drug trades.
”The President is encouraging all of the persons of interest, those alleged drug lords and drug coddlers to come up — to come out in the open to surrender themselves and submit themselves to thorough investigation if they want to clear their names,” Andanar said.
When asked if President Duterte will have another drug list, Andanar said he does not want to pre-empt the President who said drug problem is “really spreading like wildfire.”
