LIGAO CITY, Albay — President Benigno S. Aquino III on Thursday enjoined Bicolanos to support administration candidates, Manuel Roxas II and Leni Robredo, to ensure the continuity of Daang Matuwid programs.
Before an enthusiastic crowd at the City Pavilion, the President enumerated the administration’s reform programs that helped improve the lives of people across the country.
He noted Albay province’s allocation of PHP21.8 billion for infrastructure projects, which include the Yawa Bridge widening, the newly installed Tibu Pumping Station and farm-to-market roads; the construction of 2,577 classrooms; and the electrification of 39 sitios.
The Chief Executive also mentioned that of the 96 million members of PhilHealth, 1.8 million are from Albay, while 77,000 households in the province are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), which assists 4.6 million households nationwide.
“Intindihin natin: Paano natin nagawa iyan? Siyempre, masinop ang paggastos ng pondo at pinalaki natin ang ekonomiya,” President Aquino said in his speech.
“Para sa akin nga ho, sa Lunes, referendum. Tama ba ang ginawa natin sa tuwid na daan o mali? At huwag na tayong mag-isip ng kung ano-ano pa,” he said, reminding Bicolanos to consider the gains of good governance when they cast their ballots on May 9.
“Kulang na iboto natin si Mar Roxas at Leni Robredo. Kailangan ho na ikampanya natin para siguradong tayo ang pinakamarami at tayo ang magdedesisyon sa kinabukasan natin,” said the President, whose term ends on June 30.
