MANILA — In line with efforts to mitigate the effects of Typhoon “Lawin”, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced on Thursday it has pre-emptively evacuated 18,277 families in Regions 1, 2, 3, 5, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).
This was confirmed by DSWD Undersecretary Vilma Cabrera in Thursday’s briefing.

She added that these families are now being sheltered in 209 evacuation centers even as NDRRMC officers are now assessing on whether it is safe for them to go back to their homes.
Cabrera said the DSWD has sufficient stocks to distribute to affected families.
These items include food packs, hygiene kits and malongs, she added. Priam Nepomuceno/PNA – northboundasia.com
