Power interruption still up in Laoag, nearby areas

LAOAG CITY— Luzon grid customers may still experience momentary power interruption today, Wednesday, as part of the maintenance schedule particularly in this city.

Since last week, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has issued almost a daily advisory on the current emergency power interruption affecting parts of Ilocos Norte and its neighboring provinces in Ilocos Sur and Abra.

Due to scheduled shutdown of one of NGCP’s Laoag transformers, Lilibeth Gaydowen, Regional Communications and Public Affairs Officer, said Wednesday Laoag residents and nearby towns are likely to experience momentary power interruption from 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon today, June 14.

With the overloading of the 100 MVA power transformer at San Esteban substation, unscheduled power interruption also affected some Ilocos residents on June 9-10 and June 13.

NGCP, the agency in charge of the country’s transmission superhighway, assured consumers they are in close coordination with distribution utilities—INEC, ISECO and ABRECO for the smooth transition. PNA – northboundasia.com
