MANILA — A senator on Thursday condemned the killing of a Cavite provincial health officer who was shot dead by unidentified riding-in-tandem assailants on Tuesday evening urging the Philippine National Police (PNP) to identify and arrest the killers.
“I condemn this gruesome murder of a man whose work is dedicated to curing the sick. I call on the police to investigate this thoroughly and hunt and arrest the killers,” Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito said in a press statement.
Ejercito, chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, said police probers should leave no stone unturned in identifying and arresting of the killers of Dr. George Repique Jr.
“Whatever the motive may be, whether it’s work-related or personal matter, we still don’t know. But the most important thing at this point is to identify the gunmen and arrest them at the quickest possible time,” he added.
Reports from the Cavite police public information office showed that the incident happened Tuesday, 8:30p.m. as the government physician and his driver were on their way home.
Repique sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died while undergoing treatment in the hospital while Bacasa was wounded on his thigh.
