SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) regional director PCSupt. Ranier Q. Idio, said yesterday nothing would disrupt the peaceful holding of the May 9 polls in the Cagaya Valley Region due to absence of private armed group and election hot spot here.
Idio was the guest of honor during the Performance Governance System (PGS) conferment of compliance stage and awarding ceremonies held at the Diocitas hotel in Santiago City.
“There are no private armed groups in Cagayan Valley Region. However, we have directed our unit commanders to intensify information gathering and conduct of police operations against loose firearms,” Idio added.
He said close monitoring was also being undertaken on political leaders and supporters who might organize armed groups to be utilized during the May 9 elections.
He also downplayed possible threat of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels frequenting remote barangays of the region, particularly in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino. PNA/northboundasia.com
