PNP nabs suspected robber, killer-rapist of taxi passengers

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested the suspect in the series of robberies with rape among female passengers of a stolen taxi in metropolis, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Police Director Joel Pagdilao said on Friday.

Pagdilao identified the suspect as Nitro Ison, alias “Ricky Ramos”, 24, resident of Blk-41 Zone-7 Welferville Cmpd., Brgy., Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.

Ison was nabbed in Brgy. Santa Lucia, San Miguel, Bulacan on Thursday afternoon by virtue of Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Presiding Judge Alma Crispina B. Collado-Lacorte of Manila RTC Branch 21, for Robbery with Unnecessary Violence and Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Judge Ronald B. Moreno RTC Branch 147, Makati for Robbery.

Pagdilao called on other victims to come forward and identify him as the same person who robbed or assaulted them, and to file formal complaints aswell.

Ison faces seven cases in Makati, including the killing of the widow of Filipino musician Dominic Gamboa, also known as Papa Dom of reggae band Tropical Depression, who was found dead at a garbage dump in Makati City last Feb. 10.

Police said Maria Amparo was found dead with a gunshot wound on the head under heaps of trash at Kalayaan Avenue corner Bisaya Street, barangay Guadalupe Nuevo and was only identified by family members.

The 24-year old suspect was linked in a series of carnapping, robbery, homicide and rape in the cities of Mandaluyong, Quezon City, Makati and Manila.
