PNP 100% prepared to secure 65th Miss Universe coronation rites

MANILA — Some 1,858 policemen will be deployed to secure Monday’s 2016 Miss Universe coronation rites at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.

The policemen will be augmented by 200 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 150 from the Philippine Coast Guard.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde, in a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Friday, assured that security measures are in place and the Philippine National Police is 100 percent ready to ensure the safety of the 86 candidates who will be at MOA as early as 3a.m. Monday.

Albayalde said there will be 267 uniformed personnel inside the MOA Arena.

Albayalde also said the PNP will not be installing “signal jammers” so coordination between and among government authorities will not be hampered.

He added that there will be checkpoints not only in the vicinity of the SM MOA but all over Metro Manila before the conduct of the big event.

However, Albayalde clarified that there will be no rerouting of traffic during Monday’s big event.
