PLDT donates computer units to Ilocos Norte kids

LAOAG CITY —- Pupils in the remote Virgen Milagrosa Elementary School in Badoc, Ilocos Norte are the latest recipients of at least 20 units of brand new computers courtesy of the Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT).Badoc, Ilocos Norte

According to Mathilde Neri, head of the education department under the Ilocos Norte government, they recommended the said school for its elementary grade pupils to learn the basic use of computers. With ready available computers, she said it would be easier for them to do their school research and assignments.

Neri said they are just waiting for the final schedule to deliver the computer units to Badoc school.

In support to the education program of the provincial government, the PLDT management is among the private companies in the province that had committed to donate various resource learning materials and computers to public schools here.

With better access to information technology, the governor is optimistic this would make school children particularly in rural villages more competitive in class.

Earlier, the PLDT and the provincial government of Ilocos Norte entered into a memorandum of agreement to streamline and optimize the province’s emergency response capabilities through a localized 911 hotline number.

Powered by PLDT’s newest emergency dispatch solution, Ilocos residents may just dial “911” on their mobile phones to report any incident and expect immediate action from trained responders.
