Php 353-M worth of shabu seized in Bulacan drug bust -PDEA

MANILA, Philippines – Combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seized an about Php 353- million worth of methamphetamine hydrocloride , or “shabu,” during an anti-drug operation in Bulacan, PDEA official said on Monday.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the operation took place along Bypass Road, Barangay Sta. Clara, Sta. Maria, Bulacan around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday as the joint operatives of PDEA Special Enforcement Service (PDEA-SES) under the direct supervision of Director Ismael Fajardo, Jr. and the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG), arrested Leonardo Pedrosa, 39, a resident of Matang Tubig, Guyang Lote, Sta. Maria, Bulacan; Christian Ultra, 22; and Marlon Cervantes y Esta, 20; both residents of Parola, Tondo, Manila, after they conspired in selling two kilos of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer.

He said suspects also yielded a black Toyota Vios with plate number AAK-1628 where an additional 10 kilos of suspected shabu were found inside the back compartment.

The driver of the vehicle, Jaime Halili, 28, tried to escape on foot and ran towards a house in Ignacio Subdivision, Sta. Maria, Bulacan where he was subdued. Arrested inside were Frans Espaldon, 20; Glynel Base, 18; and Junvi Ivory Base, 29, who were caught in the act of drying shabu. Confiscated inside the house were more or less 58.7 kilograms of the illegal drug.

The total weight of seized drug is 70.7 kilograms with an estimated market value of Php 353.3 million.

Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filing in court against Pedrosa, Ultra and Cervantes, while Halili, Espaldon and the Bases will be charged for violation of Section 11 of the anti-drug law.
