CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union Dec. 8 — Illegal drugs, particularly Php 13-million of shabu and marijuana, were burned by officials of the Philippine National Police and Phil. Drug Enforcement Agency here, Tuesday morning.
Before burning, chemists were asked to inspect the substances to be sure that they were not tampered before placing it in drums while they pounded to pieces bricks of marijuana for easy burning.
PDEA Dir. Adrian Alvarino said that dangerous drugs came from disposed cases or decided cases of the Regional Trial Courts, however there were also drugs that were destroyed from cases that were filed that were declared “order of destruction” from the police director general, CSupt Rolando Marquez like marijuana and shabu.
It was learned that 134,299 grams of shabu worth Php 805,764 at 424,718 grams and 3,766 marijuana plants worth Php 12.5-million were destroyed and burned.
Representative from the Department of Justice, Dept. of Environment Natural Resources, church, media and several students also arrived to witness the event.
Alvarino added that the burning will show to the public that they were not recycled and sold in the streets as some individuals perceived and were maliciously circulated. PNA and William Jun Garcia
