SAN FERNANDO CITY — The Police Regional Office based in Region 1 has noted a relatively peaceful election in the Ilocos region.
“No violent incident has been recorded before, during and after the 2016 national and local elections,” police report said.
Region 1 Police Director Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez said the success is a product of “Whole –of-Government Approach” and the commitment of all government agencies and stakeholders to have an orderly and peaceful elections.
Velasquez underscored that the peaceful conduct of election is also attributed to the series of contingency planning of all members of the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC), proper deployment of police personnel to the polling centers and quick reaction teams (QRT), intensified conduct of focused police operations and designation of red team to oversee and supervise the implementation of security plan in all political districts of the four provinces in the region.
“With these laudable accomplishments, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all PNP personnel who were deployed in polling centers. Appropriate awards and commendations shall be given to those who deserved it,” said Velasquez.
Police personnel were deployed at their designated assignments since May 2 and never abandoned their posts until the retrieval of the vote counting machines (VCM) and other election paraphernalia in their respective area of responsibility (AOR).
Region 1 police likewise conducted clean-up drive and removal of campaign posters on Thursday in coordination with the local government units as part of the post-election and Oplan Balik Eskwela activities. PNA/northboundasia.com
