SAN JACINTO, Pangasinan – This town has recorded its second confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a statement on Tuesday, Mayor Leo De Vera said a 34-year-old woman from Barangay Sta. Maria here tested positive for Covid-19 after giving birth in Baguio City where she is currently staying.
De Vera said the woman went to Baguio City for her pre-natal check-up on August 3 and underwent swab test as part of its protocol.
“Her results came out negative. Therefore, she was negative from the virus when she left the town. Since that day (August 3), she has not yet returned to the town of San Jacinto,” he said.
He added the woman gave birth on August 12 in the hospital where she again underwent a swab test that turned out positive.
“She is currently at a quarantine facility in Baguio City and is not exhibiting any symptoms of the virus,” de Vera said.
Despite being asymptomatic, the patient’s contacts in San Jacinto town were advised to undergo self-quarantine. Ahikam Pasion / PNA – northboundasia.com
