LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has passed a resolution authorizing Governor Amado Espino Jr. to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for the hosting of the 2016 Philippine National Games by the Province of Pangasinan.
Espino is set to sign the MOA with PSC commissioner in-charge Jose Luis Gomez.
The Philippine National Games is a national multi-sport tournament in the country being conducted by the PSC in order to carry out the mandate to promote physical fitness and sports development in coordination with the various government department and agencies and private entities.
The 2016 PNG will be held from March 7-11, 2016
“The province of Pangasinan is willing to execute a MOA with the PSC for its commitment to forge a harmonious working relationship with the latter for the upcoming holding of the 2016 Philippine National Games,” stated the resolution authored by Board Member Amado ‘Pogi’ Espino III.
Pangasinan hosted a number of national sports events in the past as the Palarong Pambansa in 2012 and the OSKA Shikodan Philippines All Shorin-Ryu National Karate-do Tournament in 2013.
Those events were part of the Espino administration’s aim of making Pangasinan as the center of sports in the region as well as in the whole of the Philippines.
