Pangasinan PESO adjudged anew as best nationwide, now a hall of famer

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Public Employment Office (PESO) in Pangasinan bagged the hall of fame award for winning the National Best PESO award for first class province category for three consecutive years now.

The award was received by Alex Ferrer, in behalf of the province of Pangasinan, during the National PESO Congress in Manila on Tuesday (October 27).

Grace Ursua, region 1 director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) commended PESO Pangasinan and the provincial government of Pangasinan for placing the whole region one in the milestone on employment.

“It was a very good start for Region 1 to have one of its provincial PESOs included in the Hall of Fame at the opening day of the 15th National PESO Congress. The award is indeed well-deserved, as the Pangasinan PESO headed by Alex Ferrer and the province of Pangasinan under the leadership of Governor Amado Espino have remarkably contributed in promoting employment,” Ursua said.

DOLE region one recognizes PESO Pangasinan for pioneering the institutionalization of PESO, as it sets the precedent for other PESOs along this thrust of the DOLE.

Ursua said PESO Pangasinan is perhaps the only PESO in the country to be housed in its own spacious two-storey building, enough not only to serve its clients effectively, but even to accommodate other agencies that provide employment-related services.

Ferrer said PESO Pangasinan has placed 2,311 job applicants last year, 20,000 audience in their guidance and employment coaching and implemented projects of the DOLE such as “Tulong Panghanapbuhay” for disadvantaged sector, “NegoKart” and Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).

Ferrer added the leadership of the organization was also one of the basis for the award.

He is currently an adviser of the Employer’s Confederation of the Philippines and Vice President of the People’s Management of the Philippines.

“We will continue to work on the other projects of our PESO such as the migration and development program, manpower and enterprise development, skills development and labor market information as we continue to be excellent with the other on-going programs”, said Ferrer.

“The Pangasinan PESO is the region’s pioneer in PESO institutionalization.

The Pangasinan PESO was institutionalized in 1992, and through the years, it has consistently served as the provincial government’s primary arm in effectively carrying out its thrust of creating Better Jobs and Income Opportunities in its Ten-Point Agenda”, according to DOLE region one.
