LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A close-in security of the Urbiztondo town mayor was wounded when he was shot by an unidentified person riding on a motorcycle at 3:34 p.m. of February 9.
The victim was identified as Ronald Delos Santos, alias “Ronnie”, 51, part-time close-in security guard of Urbiztondo Mayor Raul Martin Sison.
At that time, De Los Santos was doubling up as a tricycle driver. He sustained two gun shot wounds in the chest and was rushed to the Velasquez Medical Clinic in Barangay Mabini, Mangatarem.
His lone passenger was Pauleen Jhane Tapiador, 7, a grade 2 pupil, of Barangay Angatel, who was wounded when an stray bullet grazed her head.
The police, however, said that the shooting was not politically motivated as both the victim and the suspect had a previous misunderstanding.
The suspect was identified as one Elpedio Macaspe, alias “Idio” who was tailing the victim on board his motorcycle.
Three empty shells of cal. 45 was found at the scene of the crime.
Meanwhile, at 7:00 p.m. in San Quintin town, a shooting incident transpired along the Provincial Road of Poblacion Zone 3, San Quintin reportedly perpetrated by motorcycle riding criminals who opened fire on Federico Opiniano, an employee of the San Quintin municipal government.
Opiano was shot while on board his Yamaha SZ-R motorcycle bearing license plate number AA 53722 while he was going home.
The victim sustained one gun shot wound on his neck and was immediately brought to the Family Hospital in Tayug, Pangasinan for medical treatment and presently under observation by his attending physician.
Recovered from the place of incident was one spent shell of caliber .45 which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory Office in Urdaneta City for Cross-matching examination.
Meanwhile, at 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, a shooting incident transpired at Sitio Mapalang, Barangay Cayungnan, Agno town where the victims was Claudine Natata, a 21-year-old male and resident of Barangay Bangan-Oda.
He was waylaid by suspect identified as Leonardo Carbonel, 72, registered gun owner and resident of Sitio Mapalang, Barangay Cayungnan.
Natata was on his way home riding on a motorcycle when the suspect brandishing a firearm, flagged down the victim and without any provocation opened fire, hitting Natata on his right forearm.
The victim was brought to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital for medical treatment.
A follow up operation was made by responding policemen resulted in the arrest of the suspect who is now under the custody of Agno Police. PNA/northboundasia.com
