Pangasinan extends P500,000 aid each to Camarines Sur, Surigao City

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan provincial government is extending P500,000 each as its humanitarian assistance to the province of Camarines Sur and Surigao City that were affected by recent calamities.

This was contained in Provincial Board Resolution No. 571-2617 authored by Third District Board Member Angel Baniqued Jr., which was approved on Monday’s session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

The amount will be drawn from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRMC) fund of the province this year.

The SP acted on an earlier Resolution No. 1-2017 of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) calling on the provincial government to allocate part of the DRRMC fund of the province to the two LGUs affected by calamities.

PDRRM Officer Rhodyn Oro called on the provincial board to approve the measure.

Camarnes Sur was badly affected by Typhoon “Nina” (Nock Ten) last year that wrought havoc to the lives of thousands of its residents.

The P500,000 aid to Camarines Sur is intended to be used specifically for the repair/rehabilitation of damaged school classrooms at Poblacion National High School in San Fernando, Camarines Sur, the resolution reads.

On the other hand, the P500,000 for Surigao City is intended to alleviate the plight of the victims of the earthquake.

First District Board Member Anthony Sison noted that Section 21 of Republic Act 10121 or the PDRRM law allows local government units to support the risk reduction works of other LGUs provided it is covered by a resolution from the legislative body. PNA-northboundasia.com
