LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A member of the Pangasinan police office and his companion were arrested by lawmen in La Union in the evening of November 17, after trying to extort from an amusement center located in Barangay (village) Poblacion East, Pugo town.

According to police reports, Senior Police Officer (SPO)1 Romeo Saringan, a member of the San Fabian police, and civilian Ramon Mejia tried to extort from an amusement center employee named Raymond Halnin.

Halnin then reported the matter to the Pugo Police Station.

The two suspects identified themselves as members of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) and allegedly were reportedly asking for ‘grease money’, said investigator SPO2 Louie Picazo of the Pugo, La Union police station.

Saringan presented two fake identification cards, a police ID bearing the fictitious name SPO1 Roberto Bersalona and a driver’s license.

Confiscated from Saringan was one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine loaded with six live ammunition with no license or any pertinent documents.

Cases for extortion, usurpation, and violation of Republic Act 10951 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions were filed against the suspect with the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Agoo, La Union.
