MANILA — Malacanang is grateful for another ‘very good’ net satisfaction ratings that President Rodrigo Duterte got from the recent Social Weather Station (SWS) survey.
“Surveys are snapshots of our people’s sentiments at any given time. We are thus grateful to the Filipino people for giving the President two consecutive ‘very good’ net satisfaction ratings,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Martin Andanar said in a press statement.
Based on the Dec. 3-6 survey conducted by the SWS to 1,500 respondents, President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating has actually went down slightly from +64 in the third quarter to +63 in the third quarter.
The SWS, however, said the number still falls under “+50 to +69 very good” category as he received “excellent” +74 net satisfaction rating despite 11 percent reduction in Mindanao.
“The continuous strong support for the President and his administration will serve as an inspiration for him to redouble his energy to be true to his oath of office and fulfill his promise of getting rid of drugs, crime and corruption in our society,” Andanar said.
Andanar said President Duterte is aware that many problems confronting the government including inadequate social services, persistent armed rebellion and terrorism cannot be solve overnight.
“But he is doing his best to address all these, and hopes that the Filipino people would support him all the way as unity and firm resolve are what we need to move forward as a nation,” Andanar said.
On the President’s colorful language, Andanar appealed to the Filipino for understanding, explaining that “these utterances are not personal attacks directed at particular persons but mere expressions of disgust and impatience over the many unresolved and unaddressed issues that remain pervasive to this day.”
The same SWS survey showed that Filipinos who believed Duterte’s habit of publicly cursing foreign officials is harmful to the relations of the Philippines with other countries has reduced from 33 to 29 percent while undecided increase from 16 to 22 percent and those who agree went down from 51 to 49 percent.
