MANILA – Malacanang welcomed on Friday a Pulse Asia survey showing President Rodrigo Duterte continues to enjoy a high approval rating at 86 percent.

”If it’s positive, we would be so flattered and we are so thankful to our countrymen,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Assistant Secretary for Operations and Special Concerns Marie Banaag said in a press briefing Friday.

According to the Pulse Asia survey conducted from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, President Duterte received the highest performance and trust ratings among the top five national officials in government.

Out of 1,200 respondents, the President garnered an 86 percent approval rating with 11 percent undecided and three percent in disapproval. He also got 86 percent ‘big trust’ rating.

Vice President Leni Robredo placed second with 66 percent approval rating and 65 percent ‘big trust’ followed by President Duterte’s partymate Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III with 61 percent approval and 55 percent trust rating.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno was in fourth with 46 percent approval rating and 44 percent in big trust while House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez got 43 percent approval and 41 percent trust rating in fifth place.

”Kung mas marami ang nagtitiwala pa, kung mas marami ang naniniwala pa na may puwedeng magbago, na nagmamalasakit ang gobyerno na ito, then we would be thankful for the survey and iyong opinyon ng ating mga kababayan,” Banaag said. Jelly Musico/
