CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Fully-grown marijuana plants worth an estimated P11.4-million marijuana were uprooted
and destroyed by a joint police teams and elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the mountainous sitio
of Bato-an, Barangay Bayabas in San Gabriel town yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director, said the operating team discovered the 57,000 marijuana plants which were planted in a land area of 5,700 square meters.

“The cultivators of the marijuana plants abandoned the area when they sensed that our troops were conducting operations at the mountainous areas in San Gabriel,” Dumangeng said.

Dumangeng said that some of the marijuana plants were burned on the site while some were brought to this camp for proper disposition and documentation. JUN ELIAS/northboundasia.com
